AirWave
Brief - Design a new form factor for a hair dryer that supports people with upper body mobility issues in being able to independently dry their hair, in a way that they could not do with a conventional hairdryer.
Understanding the user is critical for any designer designing anything. When designing for a user with a disability it is essential to understnad their specific needs and limitations, these are critical to ensure the design is ergonomic and fucntional for them. By simulating an upper body disability this highlighted the main limitations. The limited range of motion, lifting arms above your head was not possible, combined with limited grip strength made holding a hairdryer difficult.
